Overview
Provide legal services and advice regarding the organization’s activities and operations in the Europe region, focusing on managing legal risks and supporting National Societies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice on a broad range of general legal issues and complex matters.
- Advise on contracts, diplomatic law, employment law, administrative law of international organizations, and public international law.
- Support the development and use of the contract management system.
- Liaise with UN Agencies, other Movement components, governmental and non-governmental organizations on legal matters.
- Handle disputes, including mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
- Lead, select, and coordinate external legal counsel.
- Develop training materials and provide training on legal risks and compliance.
- Develop webinars, legal tools, and services for National Societies.
Required Experience
- At least 7 years of relevant professional experience in a legal environment.
- Demonstrated experience in contract law, including drafting, review, and negotiation.
- Experience with contract management systems.
- Preferred: Experience in multi-cultural and international environments.
- Preferred: Experience within an international organization or the non-profit/humanitarian sector.
- Preferred: Experience in labor law and employment matters.
- Preferred: Exposure to international law, privilege and immunities, or regulatory/compliance matters.
- Preferred: Experience in a team environment, with remote team members.
- Preferred: Experience dealing with outside counsel.
Qualifications
- University degree in law (LLB, JD, or equivalent).
- Bar membership or equivalent.
- Preferred: Specialized studies in public international law, international organization law, and/or contract and corporate law.
