Overview
The consultant will support the implementation of UN Women's "Making Every Woman and Girl Count" programme by developing guidance for implementing the System of Economic and Environmental Accounts (SEEA) from a Leave No One Behind (LNOB) perspective. This involves building on a conceptual framework, conducting methodological tests, and liaising with stakeholders to facilitate country-level implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Steer meetings of the Working Group on Implementing the SEEA from a LNOB perspective and prepare meeting materials.
- Facilitate the calculation of account tables utilizing real country datasets and reflect this information in a report.
- Support the socialization of the proposed methodology and alignment with related global processes.
- Liaise regularly with members of the Working Group and additional stakeholders.
- Prepare presentations and materials and co-facilitate working group meetings.
- Draft summaries of key decisions made during Working Group meetings.
- Conduct data integration and analysis to facilitate the creation of mock account tables.
- Liaise with Member States and other group members to encourage calculation of account tables with national data, providing guidance and technical support.
- Collate experiences and reflect them in a report, including step-by-step information for replication.
- Draft recommendations for the integration of an LNOB perspective in SEEA implementation.
- Liaise with key global and regional partners to promote uptake of recommendations.
- Organize a webinar to publicize progress and recommendations.
- Support the organization of side events, presentations, or other contributions during global and regional meetings.
- Prepare a short paper summarizing the methodology and recommendations.
Required Experience
- A minimum of 7 years of work experience on calculating environmental and economic statistics.
- At least 5 years of experience working with the System of Environmental-Economic Accounts.
- Experience analyzing, producing, or reprocessing micro data in coordination with national government institutions.
- Experience in guiding and contributing to expert groups and working groups with government representatives.
- Familiarity with inequity and gender frameworks is desirable.
- Experience in economic or environment statistics in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as at the global level, is desirable.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, environmental sciences, social sciences, demography, development studies or related fields.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
