Overview

The Climate Programme Officer will support the design and development of a potential GCF project and contribute to the overall management of UNDP’s environment/climate resilience programme.


Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and map programming opportunities in climate change, energy, disaster risk reduction, and environment.
  • Support evidence- and data-driven programme design and development.
  • Conduct research on priority thematic areas and synthesize best practices.
  • Support quality assurance of the climate change, energy, environment, and disaster risk reduction programme.
  • Support review and drafting of project reports and capturing of results and lessons learned.
  • Act as a liaison point between JICA and UNDP regarding candidate project identification for GCF funding.
  • Support the elaboration of a concept note for candidate projects.
  • Support consultations with Tunisian counterparts for concept note validation.
  • Support consultations with GCF if needed.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 3 years in programme and/or project management, partnerships, resource mobilization, communications, or public affairs, preferably in the field of environment or climate change.
  • Proficiency in the use of office productivity software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases) is required.
  • Experience in developing countries is required.
  • Experience in the MENA region is an asset.
  • Familiarity with multilateral organizations, preferably UNDP or other UN agencies, is an asset.
Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in climate or environmental studies, international development, economics, environmental engineering, or a related field.

Remuneration
• Entry lump sum: USD 3500 • Relocation costs Lump sum provided based on route for travel to the duty station • Volunteer living allowance: USD 2435.43 • Learning: Access to UNV's learning and career development resources • Annual leave: 2.5 days per month • Insurance: Comprehensive coverage for health, life and malicious acts for the UN Volunteer and health insurance coverage for up to 3 eligible dependents. • Home visit: May apply depending on duty station and length of service. • Family allowance: $250 per month for one dependent. $450 per month for two or more dependents • Travel for dependants: Subject to approval. • Exit lump sum (paid on successful completion of assignment): $225 for each month served, paid on completion of contract
