Overview
The role is responsible for the business management of databases and the comprehensive management of the life cycle of database-related applications, including their continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day management of databases and related applications.
- Oversee the execution of requests for assistance from member countries and/or internal users.
- Responsible for business product management, Compliance Check Mechanisms (CCM) and Notices publication applications.
- Serve as business liaison for Web Services implementation for data management or information retrieval.
- Manage and update reference tables for policing capabilities.
- Supervise and check procedures for consulting police databases.
- Regularly check access authorizations or restrictions.
- Improve the functioning and quality of existing search tools.
- Coordinate with other units to make improvements and extend services.
- Manage and improve functional aspects of databases and associated applications.
- Assess users’ needs and propose suitable tools and services.
- Be responsible for change management of databases.
- Provide trainings and/or presentations on business products and databases.
- May be required to take part in international conferences.
- Advise and assist hierarchy in drafting memoranda and correspondence.
- Create or maintain up to date documents and user guides.
- Participate in working groups dealing with related issues.
- Perform any other duties as required by the supervisor.
Required Experience
- At least five years’ experience in database/information systems management or a related or relevant field.
- Ten years’ experience is required if the education qualification is not met.
- Experience working in or with law enforcement.
- Experience in working with computers including knowledge of oral presentations software, business intelligence and word processing software.
Qualifications
• Three-to-four years’ education at a University or other specialized higher education establishment in information systems or in law, public policy or police management.
