Overview
Manage the maintenance and repair of trucks, light vehicles, and generators for the humanitarian community in eastern Chad, and oversee workshop operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess inventory of spare parts, equipment, and staffing skills for the inter-agency workshop.
- Finalize assessment of maintenance and repair needs from humanitarian actors.
- Define initial stock of spare parts required for operations.
- Maintain discussions regarding financing and procurement of spare parts.
- Establish a billing process and corresponding rates for garage costs.
- Establish support systems for garage operations.
- Manage and monitor performance, repair, and maintenance of vehicles and generators.
- Directly manage WFP staff, workshop managers, drivers, and mechanics.
- Ensure efficient spare parts store management.
- Prepare and submit requisitions for spare parts, tires, and materials.
- Manage POL supply.
- Implement and maintain the Fleet Management System (FleetWave) and GPS tracking.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet required standards.
- Monitor operational trends and adjust resources.
- Implement best practices and maintain KPIs for fleet and workshop operations.
- Ensure compliance with administrative requirements.
- Maintain health and safety standards and consider environmental needs.
- Collect and communicate data for fleet management standardization.
- Build capacity of national staff through training and knowledge sharing.
- Archive all workshop activities and spare parts transactions.
- Oversee all workshops in Chad, including central and satellite workshops.
Required Experience
Minimum 5 years heavy duty & light vehicle workshop management preferably in the UN or NGO system.
Qualifications
BSC degree in mechanical engineering or technical college diploma in automotive mechanics or general mechanics.
