Overview

The Emergency Preparedness Officer contributes to the development of safety standards, technical guidance, and tools to assist Member States in establishing and enhancing their capabilities in emergency preparedness and response. The role involves providing advice, designing and implementing capacity building activities, and participating in peer review missions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Safety Standards, technical guidance and tools on EPR.
  • Develop training materials and other pedagogical tools.
  • Design and deliver training activities to support Member States.
  • Participate in Peer Review Missions on emergency preparedness arrangements.
  • Provide technical advice and input on EPR.
  • Support work with Small, Modular Reactors.
  • Provide support and relevant expertise to the IAEA's IES and participate in response activities, training and exercises within IES.
Required Experience

Minimum of 7 years of experience in preparedness and response to nuclear or radiological incidents and emergencies or in radiation protection of which three years of experience in development of Safety Standards, technical guidelines and tools in the area of emergency preparedness and response to nuclear and radiological incidents and emergencies at the national and international levels and implementation of capacity building activities.

Qualifications

Master's Degree - Advanced University degree in science, nuclear engineering, emergency management or other related field.

Languages Preferred
Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.

Remuneration
tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $84672 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $ 33869*, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; Other benefits include 6 weeks' annual leave, home leave travel, pension plan and health insurance.
