Overview
The consultant will provide technical support for the implementation of key outputs related to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Tunisia, focusing on environmental dimensions. The role involves curating knowledge, providing technical advice for national AMR management, and disseminating findings.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a workplan and engagement plan with stakeholders.
- Conduct a field survey to identify resistant germs in various environmental samples.
- Compile knowledge on environmental contamination by resistant germs.
- Identify causes of AMR development and spread in the environment and map risk sectors.
- Elaborate a diagnostic report on environmental AMR in Tunisia with recommendations.
- Identify knowledge/data gaps and develop actions for a roadmap.
- Participate in a national workshop, presenting study outputs and leading discussions.
Required Experience
- Two years of relevant professional experience in environmental policy, public health or related field is required.
- Proven experience working on antimicrobial resistance with a strong focus on environmental determinants such as pollution, chemical, waste and wastewater is required.
- Proven experience providing technical and policy support in multidisciplinary and multisectoral contexts at global, regional and/or national levels is required.
- Demonstrated capacity to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders including governments, UN agencies, the Quadripartite, private sectors and international organizations is desirable.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in microbiology, environmental health, environment management, environmental science, or closely related fields is required.
- Two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of a university degree.
