Overview
Develop a single country concept note for the Adaptation Fund, endorsed by UNEP and the National Designated Authority of Madagascar. The concept note aims to strengthen adaptive capacities of vulnerable agricultural communities through agroecological practices and reinforce national capacities for scaling up agroecology.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct desk review and stakeholder consultations.
- Draft an Adaptation Fund single country concept note incorporating climate change adaptation problem and solution trees, project components, outcomes, outputs, theory of change, cost-effectiveness analysis, beneficiary groups, project benefits, gender analysis, alignment with national priorities, lessons learned, knowledge management framework, consultation process, and environmental and social safeguards risks.
- Address comments from UNEP and project stakeholders.
- Present the final concept note for validation.
- Address comments from the Adaptation Fund’s review sheet.
Required Experience
- A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in climate change adaptation or environment management projects.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully developing Adaptation Fund, Global Environment Facility or GCF project proposals is required.
- Experience in Madagascar or the region will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of UN systems and processes is an asset.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree or higher in an environmental science, climate change, economics, development studies, development policy or a closely related field is required.
- A Bachelor’s degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of a Master’s degree.
