Overview

Associate for Health, Safety, Social and Environmental matters, focusing on Occupational Health & Safety. The role aims to prevent sustainability issues and establish best practices in occupational health and safety within UNOPS projects.


Key Responsibilities
  • Attend field requirements in the specialty area.
  • Assist in monitoring the correct completion of Occupational Health and Safety formats.
  • Recommend corrective actions for non-compliant work.
  • Assist in verifying the quality of safety and health actions.
  • Support the preparation of necessary formats for activity control.
  • Inform the Project Manager of issues affecting results.
  • Support the preparation of reports.
  • Integrate sustainability and occupational health and safety actions.
  • Perform risk identification and assessments.
  • Verify occupational health and safety training for workers.
  • Ensure daily risk assessments are conducted.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections.
  • Anticipate and recognize hazardous situations.
  • Maintain safe work sites.
  • Investigate and report safety incidents.
  • Support the investigation of injuries, accidents, and incidents.
  • Assist in inspections regarding PPE, order, cleanliness, and signage.
  • Control commitments related to Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Perform daily reviews of HSSE forms in the digital platform.
  • Review and provide feedback on HSSE project plans.
  • Ensure implementation of UNOPS incident prevention campaigns.
  • Assist in workshops and training to promote safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with UNOPS policies, directives, and procedures.
  • Prepare reports on monitoring, exceptions, and other relevant aspects.
Required Experience
  • 02 to 06 years of relevant experience in Occupational Health and Safety (depending on academic credentials).
  • Technical knowledge of national norms regarding Occupational Health and Safety, ISO standards, and/or infrastructure projects is valued.
  • Experience in infrastructure projects is valued.
Qualifications
  • Completion of secondary education is required.
  • A first-level university degree (equivalent to Bachelor's Degree or Licenciatura) preferably in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Safety, or Labor Safety, or related fields is desirable and may substitute for some required years of experience.
