Overview
The Senior Associate - Environmental Management will ensure the environmental and social compliance of project activities, including supervision of works and implementation of ESMPs. The role provides technical support to ensure adherence to World Bank environmental standards and Haitian regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and organize public consultations.
- Contribute to the development and monitoring of Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs).
- Participate in field visits to assess environmental impacts.
- Ensure environmental and social supervision of construction works.
- Monitor environmental indicators.
- Provide technical support for project compliance with UNOPS environmental policies and national regulations.
- Assist in preparing environmental reports.
- Participate in environmental training and workshops.
- Raise awareness among local stakeholders on environmental best practices.
- Assist in planning and organizing training.
- Contribute to documenting environmental management best practices.
- Participate in technical meetings with partners and stakeholders.
Required Experience
- Minimum seven (7) years of relevant experience in environmental management, preferably in development projects.
- Prior experience with projects funded by international donors (an asset).
Qualifications
• Secondary diploma (or equivalent) with 7 years of relevant experience OR a Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in environmental science, natural resource management, ecology, or a related field can substitute for missing years of experience.
