Overview
The Workshop Associate (Chef Mecanicien) will coordinate and oversee vehicle maintenance and repair work for WFP vehicles, trucks, and generators across Haiti. This role involves managing and technically guiding mechanics in country and sub-offices.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan activities and organize repair work for vehicles, assigning tasks to staff in different WFP workshops.
- Receive vehicles/generators, diagnose issues, and define necessary repairs.
- Monitor and plan maintenance and repair work in sub-offices.
- Provide support and training to administrative assistants on using the Fleet Management System (FMS).
- Supervise and control FMS usage in Port Au Prince and sub-offices.
- Supervise and control the management of spare parts stores.
- Establish the technical staff mission travel plan to sub-offices.
- Ensure vehicle safety components are functioning correctly.
- Verify completed work on vehicles and generators.
- Ensure technical staff conduct vehicle tests before release from the garage.
- Maintain workshop cleanliness and adherence to hygiene and prevention rules.
- Guarantee correct use and management of tools.
- Ensure application and adherence to technical procedures.
- Open, track, and close Job Cards in the FMS.
- Manage spare parts and lubricant stocks.
- Coordinate store parts inventories.
- Establish monthly maintenance plans for vehicles and generators.
- Manage supervised personnel.
- Produce daily, weekly, monthly, and annual workshop reports.
- Provide data to WFP Service Provision for partner billing.
- Prepare Petty Cash requests for certification and approval.
- Coordinate and compile spare parts requests from sub-offices.
- Prepare mechanics' leave plans.
- Perform other fleet and garage-related tasks as requested by the supervisor.
Required Experience
- At least 6 years of experience in progressively responsible roles as a supervisor of automobile repair mechanics.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in specialized repairs of various vehicle components, including manual and automatic gearboxes, engines, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, welding, and electrical systems.
- Experience in supervising and coordinating subordinate tasks, with the ability to train and mentor junior members of the functional unit.
Qualifications
• Secondary school diploma, or vocational diploma in automotive mechanics or an equivalent field.
