Overview
The Senior M&E Assistant assists in generating and utilizing evidence on UNHCR's results and the situation of the people served for planning, reporting, and advocacy. The role supports consistent monitoring methodologies, coordination of evaluations, and the use of data for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of multi-year M&E plans.
- Assist Results Managers in selecting and developing indicators and monitoring activities.
- Assist in the coordination of primary data collection exercises.
- Support participatory approaches to assessment, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
- Assist development of coherent M&E frameworks, tools, and practices.
- Support preparation of advice to management on evaluation needs.
- Facilitate communication between country operations and regional or HQ evaluation teams.
- Compile, organize, and maintain an evidence base of data.
- Assist preparation of joint review and analysis to translate data into actionable insights.
- Assist in design and delivery of M&E training and learning initiatives.
- Ensure monitoring and evaluation processes comply with UNHCR policies and standards.
- Support the identification and management of risks.
Required Experience
- 2 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 1 year relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher.
- Experience in planning and implementing monitoring systems and managing/conducting independent evaluation in United Nations system in international development and/or humanitarian contexts.
- Experience in setting up monitoring systems and rolling out M&E frameworks.
- Experience in coordinating a variety of internal and external stakeholders in a cross-cultural professional environment.
