Overview

The Associate Human Rights Officer will research, collect, and analyze information on human rights issues, with a focus on conflict-related sexual violence, and contribute to reporting and capacity-building efforts.


Key Responsibilities
  • Researches and collects information on human rights issues, focusing on CRSV, emerging trends, and response gaps.
  • Drafts reports, briefing notes, and analytical documents.
  • Participates in hearings and consultations, preparing summaries.
  • Maintains awareness of current human rights and legal developments.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant standards for protection and information handling.
  • Participates in human rights training for national officials and civil society.
  • Reviews human rights issues and participates in discussions on their integration into efforts and programmes.
  • Assists in promoting community mobilization and rights exercise.
  • Participates in advocacy and discussions with authorities to prevent or remedy human rights violations.
  • Liaises with government, NGOs, civil society, and UN agencies to create baseline data.
  • Designs and maintains databases to track project progress.
  • Contributes to data analysis, identification of trends, and provides insights using data visualization methods.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, political affairs, international relations, law or related area is required.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in human rights and/or International Humanitarian Law data analytics or related area is desirable.
  • Experience conducting face to face and/or remote interviews with victims and witnesses of human rights violations is desirable.
  • Experience within the United Nations common system or similar international organization is desirable.
Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or related area. A first-level university degree in the abovementioned fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
