Overview
The Protection Field Officer contributes to the implementation and monitoring of protection activities in Upper Nile State and part of Jonglei. S/he ensures quality management of the PFL file and supports activities for detainees.
Key Responsibilities
- Implements protection activities under supervision.
- Participates or leads field trips.
- Ensures administrative and financial follow-up after field missions.
- Contributes to context and security analysis.
- Engages affected persons and communities to understand protection needs.
- Develops and maintains contacts with relevant interlocutors.
- Develops multidisciplinary responses to protection needs.
- Contributes to internal written reporting and filing.
- Monitors protection-related issues.
- Documents relevant events in PROT6.
- Promotes synergies with COM/PREV.
- Assesses PFL-related needs.
- Builds capacity of SSRC and its volunteers.
- Ensures proper management of tracing caseload.
- Ensures PFL services are effectively offered.
- Identifies potential relays for PFL activities.
- Engages community leaders and members.
- Pays attention to the needs of vulnerable persons.
- Contributes to the assessment of needs of Families of Missing persons.
- Performs data entry and extraction in PROT6.
- Monitors and shares information about arrest and detention of persons related to conflict.
- Supports follow-up on Allegations of Arrest.
- Provides logistical support for visits and assistance to places of detention.
Required Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a humanitarian area, socio-economic development, humanitarian law, human rights or similar position.
- Good knowledge of geographically assigned area of responsibility in Upper Nile State.
Qualifications
University Degree and vocational training in a humanitarian area, socio-economic development, humanitarian law, human rights, or equivalent field.
