Overview
The National Legal Specialist will provide legal support for land consolidation activities under the GRAIL Project in Georgia. The role involves assessing and advising on legal frameworks, drafting recommendations, and supporting beneficiary farmers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal support for land consolidation activities.
- Contribute to drafting the National Land Consolidation Strategy.
- Conduct legal and institutional assessments of regulatory frameworks.
- Contribute to drafting recommendations for new legislation or revisions.
- Liaise with public authorities on legislation and regulations.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of the Land Data/Information Specialist and Junior Land Consolidation Specialist.
- Provide guidance to team members on legal issues.
- Support beneficiary farmers with land rights and property registration.
- Contribute to quality assurance of deliverables related to land consolidation.
- Provide legal advice in cases of land disputes.
- Contribute to the design, coordination, and monitoring of capacity-building programmes.
- Contribute to the development of the National Land Consolidation Programme.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in the development, review, and implementation of legal and regulatory frameworks, particularly in property rights, real estate, or land governance.
- Proven professional experience in the assessment, development, review, and implementation of legal and regulatory frameworks, particularly in property rights, real estate, or land governance.
- Proven experience in working on land law.
- Demonstrated team supervision experience.
- Experience in managing and supervising project teams.
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams and large-scale projects will be an asset.
- Experience in working with international organizations, government agencies and development partners is an asset; working experience at a UN organization is an asset.
- Experience working with rural communities and farmers is an asset.
Qualifications
• Advanced university degree in Law.
