Overview

The Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer will provide support in the implementation of projects and activities related to ending violence against children and child online sexual exploitation and abuse in the Philippines.


Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver technical assistance in preventing and responding to violence against children, justice for children, and children’s rights.
  • Provide substantive and operational support for reviewing legal and policy frameworks.
  • Contribute to situation analysis of institutional capacities for child protection in the online space.
  • Develop policy guidelines and practical tools, and deliver capacity-building activities.
  • Liaise with government counterparts, UN and international organizations, private sector, and civil society.
  • Provide input to workplans, reports, and support knowledge exchange.
  • Participate in and support consultative meetings, trainings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Assist in mission preparation and delivery, and project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify trends and provide insights for planning and reporting.
Required Experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional work experience in implementing projects and activities on child protection within the field of crime prevention and criminal justice is required. Work experience in carrying out research, situation analyses and legal drafting on child protection in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice is required. Work experience in reviewing legislation and policies, promoting and protecting children’s rights, contributing to the development of practical tools and international standards in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice is required. Work experience in protecting children in the online environment is desirable. Work experience in building multi-stakeholder partnerships with governments, civil society stakeholders, and private sector actors, and engaging with international and regional mechanisms is desirable. Experience working with the United Nations system or similar international organization in the area of crime prevention and criminal justice is desirable. Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

Qualifications

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, criminology, criminal justice, international relations, social sciences, human rights, or a closely related field is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
