The role supports the IOM Data and Research Team in implementing data research operations in Ethiopia. The successful candidate will collect and verify information, assess situations at high mobility areas, and liaise with partners.
Minimum BA Degree in Information Management System, Statistics, Geography, social science, Development study, Humanities and other related field of study with two years of relevant experience. Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations. Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage. Knowledge of Geographic Positioning System (GPS) tools. Experience working at the community and individual level in rural and remote areas of Ethiopia. Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in field level data collection, research, community-based response approaches etc. Ability to transfer knowledge and skills on data collection, processing, and analysis. Knowledge of Open Data Kit (ODK) and Kobo technology. Computer literacy required: MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access). Experience in recognized institutions on data collection in Ethiopia is an advantage. NGO/INGO experience is a plus. Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
