Overview

Provide psychosocial services for unaccompanied migrant children in accommodation facilities, including mental health assessments, group and one-on-one support sessions, and case management.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assess the mental health of UMC and write psychological evaluations.
  • Organize and participate in group and one-on-one sessions for psychological support and development of activities and interventions.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of interventions to inform and raise awareness of children.
  • Provide psychosocial support to children in collaboration with the social worker or other members of the scientific team.
  • Refer children to primary or secondary medical care services if deemed necessary.
  • Map existing national and humanitarian mental health and psychosocial services.
  • Implement responsibilities of the reference person (Case Worker assigned specific children).
  • In collaboration with the team, implement actions for the achievement of objectives of the Individual Action Plan.
  • In collaboration with the child's Guardian, conduct Best Interest Assessments (BIA) or prepare other similar reports and identify needs and vulnerabilities.
  • Keep and update the individual file of the child.
  • Collect and monitor required beneficiaries’ documentation on a monthly basis.
  • Support the child in the Accommodation Center entry process, explain and discuss rules of accommodation.
  • Support the child in smooth integration in activities inside or outside the Shelter.
  • Inform and train children to strengthen them against any form of abuse and neglect.
  • Plan and perform necessary actions to prepare children for departure from the Accommodation Center.
  • Escort unaccompanied children.
  • Distribute food, clothing, and personal hygiene kits to children, if needed.
  • Reinforce Accommodation Center rules at all times.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience
  • Minimum one year of relevant experience desirable;
  • Previous experience working with children considered as an asset.
Qualifications
  • University degree in Psychology from an accredited academic institution.
  • Master’s degree in above field an advantage.
  • License to practice the profession or/and certificate of registration with the relevant professional association.

Languages Required
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish). For this position, fluency in Greek is required (oral and written). Working Knowledge of English or French is required (oral and written).
