Overview
The Health Officer will support all stages of the programme cycle, from planning and development to implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of results. The role provides technical, operational, and administrative support for the Health Programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and update health situation analysis for programme development, design, and management.
- Research and report on development trends to enhance programme management.
- Contribute to sectoral programme goals, objectives, strategies, and results-based planning.
- Provide technical and operational support throughout programming processes.
- Prepare documentation for programme review and approval.
- Work with colleagues and partners to discuss operational and implementation issues.
- Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises, programme reviews, and annual sectoral reviews.
- Monitor and report on the use of sectoral programme resources.
- Prepare regular and mandated sectoral programme/project reports.
- Conduct regular programme field visits and surveys.
- Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts, NGO partners, UN system partners, and other country office partners/donors.
- Build and sustain effective working partnerships with health sector government counterparts and national stakeholders.
- Draft communication and information materials for programme advocacy.
- Participate in inter-agency (UNCT) on health programmes.
- Research information on potential donors and prepare resource mobilization materials.
- Identify, capture, synthesize, and share lessons learned.
- Apply innovative approaches and promote good practices.
- Participate as a resource person in capacity building initiatives.
Required Experience
At least 2 years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: public health/nutrition planning and management, maternal and neonatal health care, or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness.
Qualifications
Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in one of the following fields is required: public health/nutrition, pediatric health, family health, health research, global/international health, health policy and/or management, environmental health sciences, biostatistics, socio-medical, health education, epidemiology, or another relevant technical field.
