Overview
The ICT and Security Assistant executes ICT services in the Country Office by implementing ICT systems and strategies, providing daily technical support to users, and contributing to the protection of information assets through the application of basic security measures and compliance with corporate standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation of ICT strategies, standards, and procedures.
- Contribute to ICT annual work planning and prioritization.
- Support procurement processes, including preparation of technical specifications.
- Maintain updated inventory of ICT assets, licenses, and supplies.
- Assist in vendor coordination and contract monitoring.
- Provide first-level technical support to users.
- Install, configure, and maintain ICT equipment and peripherals.
- Perform basic troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain operating systems, applications, and updates.
- Support corporate and cloud-based platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365).
- Monitor network performance and connectivity.
- Troubleshoot network issues and coordinate with providers.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access.
- Implement backup, recovery, and business continuity procedures.
- Apply basic ICT and information security measures.
- Support implementation and maintenance of telecom systems (fixed, mobile, VoIP).
- Maintain intranet and collaborative platforms.
- Provide ICT technical support for meetings, events, and training.
- Promote effective use of digital tools and ICT best practices.
- Support implementation of office physical security measures.
- Monitor condition and functionality of safety and security equipment.
- Conduct periodic checks of office premises and common areas.
- Coordinate maintenance actions with relevant stakeholders.
- Support implementation of security plans, protocols, and procedures.
- Monitor risks and report incidents affecting personnel or operations.
- Maintain emergency contacts and security-related documentation.
- Support training, drills, and awareness activities.
- Assist in incident response and reporting.
- Maintain readiness and inventory of emergency and communication equipment.
- Support tracking, assignment, and control of critical equipment.
- Provide operational support during emergencies.
- Coordinate with UN agencies and vendors on ICT and security matters.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required Experience
At least five (5) years of working experience in network administration and use of hardware/software, telecommunications facilities. Experience in Azure, like Defender, Portal will be considered an asset. Experience with internal UNW applications such as GST, SN, and the Portal is an asset.
Qualifications
Completion of secondary education is required. Bachelor’s degree in computer science is an asset. Cisco Certified Network Engineer (CCNE) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) required. If certification is not available at the time of recruitment, it should be obtained within 6 months. ITIL Certification is an asset. Project Management Certification (PMP or Prince) is an asset.
