Overview
To support WFP operations in Gaza by contributing to the daily management of security operations, facilitating program delivery, and maintaining the security and safety of personnel, assets, facilities, and activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical advice and support for security assessments and plans.
- Support the development of systems and tools to monitor, assess, and respond to security needs.
- Support context analysis in conflict-affected operational areas.
- Support and assist with communications and negotiations for security guarantees.
- Monitor local security developments and advise on emerging issues.
- Support the monitoring and maintenance of effective security management communications systems.
- Build and contribute to productive relationships with local partners.
- Collaborate closely with internal counterparts to align security activities with programmes.
- Integrate gender-responsive security measures into assessments, planning, and operations.
- Coach, guide, and support junior security staff.
- Participate in local and inter-agency forums and meetings.
- Support the organization and delivery of training sessions.
- Prepare accurate and timely reports.
- Support the monitoring and evaluation of WFP activities.
- Apply and follow established emergency security preparedness practices.
- Other as required.
Required Experience
Minimum three years of relevant postgraduate professional experience in Security Risk Management, preferably within the context of the UN System or an International Organization. Desirable experience includes supporting complex projects and operational activities, experience in emergency response and high-risk operational capacity, guiding and providing technical direction to junior staff, and a sound understanding of conflict dynamics in Gaza.
Qualifications
Advanced University degree in Security Management, International Relations or Law Enforcement or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional 2 years of related work experience and/or training/courses. A diploma obtained from Military/Police Academy with qualifying relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the First University degree.
