Overview

The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Field Officer (Psychologist) is responsible for implementing MHPSS activities, providing direct psychological and psychosocial support, and training/supervising staff involved in MHPSS service delivery.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and follow up on MHPSS activities at local and national level
  • Implement MHPSS activities directly through individual consultations and group support meetings
  • Create and maintain direct links with MHPSS programme beneficiaries.
  • Organize referral and follow up of cases as required
  • Set up and use culturally and context-appropriate monitoring and evaluation tools and ensure regular data collection
  • Develop and maintain contacts with external stakeholders, according to the MHPSS strategy
  • Translate and ensure context-appropriate material for training and clinical supervision
  • Train and supervise MHPSS staff from other organizations/partners/teams as per the programme strategy
  • Maintain regular communication with his/her supervisor, providing data and programme updates
Required Experience

A minimum of 3 years of overall professional experience, with minimum 2 years of experience in MHPSS programmes preferably in international or local humanitarian organizations. Proven experience and strong expertise in delivering individual and group psychological / psychosocial support to beneficiaries. Experience working with people affected by violence, families with missing relatives and with weapon wounded patients in hospital settings is an asset. Proven experience in developing and conducting trainings and providing supervision in close coordination with partners and stakeholders.

Qualifications

University degree in psychology or clinical psychology and/or Qualification in an evidence based psychological approach. License to practice with documentation confirming membership in a national association.
