Overview
The Safety Assistant (Radio Operator) is responsible for monitoring and recording the movements of DRC vehicles and staff, updating information networks, and maintaining alertness to the security situation.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate and monitor the movement of vehicles and personnel in the assigned operational area.
- Collect hourly/daily location reports from trip/team leaders.
- Distribute received messages and information to appropriate persons.
- Monitor verified information networks and provide regular updates.
- Inform supervisor of changes in security situation, incidents affecting safety, or unforeseen urgent situations.
- Ensure confidentiality of information on personnel movements and operations.
- Track using GPS system and verify vehicle tracking devices are active.
- Update contact databases for DRC staff in the area.
- Transfer relevant trip information received during the shift into the appropriate table.
- Monitor the air security situation in regions.
- Conduct weekly checks of communication equipment.
- Conduct briefings and instruct staff before trips.
- Provide staff with necessary safety equipment.
- Complete any other tasks as instructed by the manager.
Required Experience
Preferably at least 2 years of relevant experience.
Qualifications
A degree or diploma in a relevant subject is preferred but not required.
