Overview

The Field Coordinator will support the implementation and coordination of operations in their geographical area(s) as per the defined operational strategy, contributing to the assistance of vulnerable people through a well-coordinated approach.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support NS and IFRC in management of operational activities
  • Support NS and IFRC field teams in programme design, planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting, and transition
  • Ensure that operational planning is in line with the NS long-term strategy and capacity
  • Provide assistance to NS staff and volunteers to effectively implement project and program activities
  • Support the NS and IFRC technical program teams in implementing field activities for specific programs
  • Act as the main link between the National Society (NS) and IFRC secretariat in the assigned geographical area(s)
  • Assess socio-political, humanitarian and security situations and gaps in area of responsibility and provide regular monitoring field reports
  • Provide regular and timely operational reports inclusive of operational data and relevant statistics
  • Ensure staff safety and security by adhering to policies and regulations
  • Serve as IFRC finance, admin and logistics focal point
  • Coordinate and liaise with internal and external partners
  • Ensure the implementation of the Membership Coordination Framework
  • Encourage NS to engage effectively with the external humanitarian community
  • Represent the IFRC in planning and coordination meetings and external relationships/networking
  • Provide regular updates to IFRC and NS appropriate Focal Persons
  • Ensure close coordination of NS and IFRC managerial and technical sectors
  • Ensure activities are coordinated with communities and local actors, Participating National Societies (PNS), Emergency Response Units and rapid response personnel/teams
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of the planned intervention
  • Link UN, NGO, Government resources, etc. to the NS and relevant technical sectors
  • Collaborate with other corresponding Field Coordinators
  • Work closely to support local branches of the NS
  • Support the branch in building capacity
  • Champion high-quality accountability standards and ensure compliance with relevant policy and procedures
Required Experience

At least 5 years of work experience for the RC/RC or for another humanitarian relief organization coordinating emergency and/or relief operations. Experience in managing programs and projects including planning, monitoring and guiding implementation, budget development and management of significant field-based projects, reporting and technical advice and guidance. Experience in field intervention, volunteer management, mentoring and capacity building, training project staff and working with vulnerable populations. Experience and knowledge in the regional context.

Qualifications

Relevant university degree or equivalent qualifications with a relevant field. Preferred: Basic Delegates Training Course (BTC) or IMPACT or equivalent.
