Overview

Provide legal advice and services to support AIIB's operations and corporate governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with its mandate, internal legal framework, policies, and procedures.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the provision of legal and policy advice and support on outreach to Member governments, membership, and shareholder relations, including the admission of new Members.
  • Advise on the interpretation of AIIB's constituent instruments, internal legal framework, and other legal instruments.
  • Develop, draft, and lead negotiations of legal instruments with Member governments on AIIB's privileges, immunities, exemptions, and facilities.
  • Advise on institutional and administrative matters, including human resources management, corporate procurement, facilities and administrative services, records and information management, personal data privacy, security and emergency management, and IT governance issues.
  • Support the development of staff grievance mechanisms and lead in the defence of the Bank against litigation.
  • Advise the ethics, integrity, and ombuds functions.
  • Advise on external cooperation partnership initiatives and MCDF governance issues.
  • Draft and revise legal advice, memoranda, legal opinions, guidance, and internal correspondence.
  • Pilot the promotion of innovative approaches and seek improvement of work processes and products.
  • Coordinate and collaborate in the legal field with other multilateral development banks and development partners.
  • Contribute to institutional, departmental, or unit initiatives, including knowledge management and publications.
  • Perform other assignments at the General Counsel's request.
Required Experience

Minimum 5-8 years (for Counsel) and 8-10 years (for Senior Counsel) of relevant professional experience, with the most recent 3-5 years in a lead capacity (for Senior Counsel), preferably with wide-ranging experience in the relevant aspects of legal work in international organizations.

Qualifications

Advanced law degree, with the qualification to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
