Overview

The Assistant Budget Officer role involves advising on Field Budget matters, planning, managing, and monitoring operations, and drafting reports. The position also includes reviewing budget estimates, verifying fund availability, and overseeing project end dates.


Key Responsibilities
  • Advises supervisor on Field Budget matters, including planning, managing, and monitoring operations.
  • Drafts correspondence and prepares reports related to budget functions.
  • Reviews and checks accuracy of Programme Budget and External Grants estimates.
  • Verifies and confirms availability of funds and raises transactions for budget allocation.
  • Assists in overseeing and reviewing project end dates.
  • Trains staff on Budget preparation tools and proper use of the Agency's FMIS.
  • Carries out monthly/quarterly review of budget and expenditure, reporting on over/under expenditures.
  • Verifies and raises obligation documents and reconciles obligation reports.
  • Provides guidance and support on project budget issues.
  • Maintains information system and data, preparing analytical, statistical, and other reports.
  • Develops and maintains communications with budget leads/focals, advising on budget rules and regulations.
Required Experience

Four years' experience in a finance, budgeting or accounting office of a governmental, international, or commercial organization with an emphasis on a computerized working environment is required.

Qualifications

A university degree from an accredited educational institution in accounting, finance, or related field.

Contract Duration
Fixed Term Appointment for 1 year; including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and continuing need.

Remuneration
Monthly basic salary USD 1,490.30, payable in JD at UN monthly exchange rate. The Jerusalem Allowance will be paid subject to eligibility criteria. Other benefits include monthly Provident Fund contribution (15.4% of basic salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and dependency allowance (if applicable). Additional benefits: 2 days of sick leave for each completed month of service. 14 weeks of Maternity Leave. 2 weeks paternity leave.
