Overview

Consultant to analyze international best practices and lessons learned for the sugar value chain in Cuba, providing concrete policy proposals for productive development, diversification, market access, inclusion, and environmental sustainability.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct a critical analysis of the value chain diagnosis and dialogue discussions to identify restrictions and opportunities.
  • Design a research proposal for best practices and strategies, including objectives, work plan, methodology, annotated index, and information sources.
  • Identify, select, and analyze international best practices and lessons learned in sugar value chains with challenges similar to Cuba.
  • Perform a comparative analysis highlighting the relevance and transferability of selected best practices and lessons learned for the sugar value chain in Cuba.
  • Formulate specific strategies for identified restrictions and opportunities based on best practices and lessons learned, detailing responsible parties, timelines, and resources.
  • Consult with specialists and value chain actors on the relevance of strategies for the value chain in Cuba.
  • Incorporate lessons learned and best practices with a gender perspective, as relevant to the value chain.
Required Experience

At least 7 years of experience in economic development, productive development, industrial development, rural development, agriculture, or related areas. Experience in the sugar value chain or its derivatives is desirable. Knowledge of the Cuban sugar industry is desirable.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in economics, agronomy, chemistry, rural development, or related fields. A Master's degree in the mentioned areas is desirable.
