Overview
The Economist will contribute to analytical work and lending operations within the Fiscal Policy and Growth (FPG) Department, focusing on macroeconomic and fiscal management, economic growth, and poverty alleviation.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to FPG Advisory Services and Analytics (ASA) in the areas of macroeconomic and fiscal management, macro modelling and data work, and public finance.
- Contribute to the design of the operational and analytical work in alignment with the job creation, economic growth and poverty alleviation objectives of the country.
- Serve as a task leader or a team member for country-specific financing operations and/or analytical and advisory services.
- Support the Country Management Unit (CMU) in the implementation of the World Bank's program in Angola.
- Establish and develop strong partnerships with other bilateral and multilateral agencies, increasing cooperation and leveraging Bank resources in analytical and operational work.
- Contribute to the dissemination of the Bank’s knowledge products to a wider audience, including civil society, academia, and other key stakeholders.
- Collect, analyze and maintain economic and financial data and information related to Angola’s economy, and communicate findings in concise and clear form.
- Maintain macroeconomic databases and regularly prepare updated medium-term macroeconomic projections. Use/run economic/financial models and toolkits using existing software packages, or World Bank's own models.
Required Experience
At least 5 years of relevant professional experience. A PhD would be considered as equivalent to 3 years of work experience.
Qualifications
Minimum of a Master’s degree in economics (PhD preferred).
