Overview

Resident advisor in financial sector regulation and supervision at the IMF Middle East Regional Technical Assistance Center (METAC) in Beirut, Lebanon. The role focuses on strengthening financial sector regulation and supervision capacities in participating countries, with an initial term of twelve months and potential for extension.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist participating countries in developing financial sector regulation and supervision capacities, with a focus on banks.
  • Coordinate with MCM regarding TA requests for non-bank financial institutions.
  • Manage and deliver TA on financial sector regulation and supervision.
  • Prepare and transmit final documents to country authorities.
  • Evaluate financial sector regulation and supervision status and make recommendations.
  • Prepare recommendations on legislative, regulatory, and operational steps.
  • Provide support for implementation plans of the Basel Framework and international standards.
  • Advise on and help implement improvements in licensing and supervision systems.
  • Advise on and help implement improvements in supervisory cooperation and information exchange.
  • Advise on and help implement risk-based supervision.
  • Provide on-the-job training to local supervisors.
  • Conduct, facilitate, or participate in workshops and seminars.
  • Keep MCM back-stoppers updated on developments.
  • Apply the results-based management (RBM) strategic framework.
  • Lead annual work planning and budgeting for the capacity development program.
  • Contribute to outreach activities and reports on the Center’s activities.
  • Ensure advice provided is in line with IMF policies.
Required Experience

At least seven (7) years of experience working in a financial sector supervisory agency, in-depth understanding of international standards for banking regulation and supervision and experience of their implementation at national and/or international level. Expertise of technical assistance delivery in this field is an advantage.

Qualifications

A degree in economics, finance, accounting, or a related area.
