Overview

Undertake a value chain and market study to identify viable women's economic empowerment opportunities for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence in four target provinces.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct desk review of national frameworks, labour market reports, value chain studies, climate resilience assessments, SGBV services, referral pathways, social services, and socio-economic support mechanisms.
  • Map current WEE implementing partners and institutions.
  • Develop an inception report outlining methodology, data collection tools, key informants, geographic coverage, and a work plan.
  • Conduct participatory field research and market analysis with survivors, identifying high-potential value chains and market entry points.
  • Analyze gendered and climate-related vulnerabilities affecting market participation.
  • Evaluate urban, peri-urban, and rural differences.
  • Assess availability, capacity, and gaps in WEE service providers.
  • Identify opportunities for partnerships for skill-building, entrepreneurship support, vocational training, and savings groups.
  • Provide strategic recommendations for survivor-centred WEE programming.
  • Develop a practical implementation framework for integrating opportunities into GBV support and referral services.
Required Experience

Minimum of 7 years of professional experience. Proven experience in gender-responsive market assessments, value chain studies, WEE programming, or livelihoods. Expertise in SGBV, gender equality, and survivor-sensitive research. Experience working in Mozambique preferred.

Qualifications

Minimum of a bachelor's degree.

Remuneration
All consultancy costs will be covered by UNFPA. Support services where required including travel and daily subsistence allowance during travel to the three provinces (airfare, DSA, terminals and land transport).
