Overview

The Stakeholder Engagement and Safeguards Specialist will support the Project Design Expert in providing information on stakeholder engagement, environmental and social safeguards documentation, and institutional analysis for a GEF-funded project.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and operational support for stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Map and analyze project stakeholders.
  • Support assessment of policy, legal, regulatory, and institutional landscape.
  • Collect baseline information and identify stakeholder priorities.
  • Support assessment of stakeholder capacities and needs.
  • Prepare a matrix of potential social and environmental impacts and mitigation options.
  • Review institutional capability for ESMP management and monitoring.
  • Assist in gathering information for ESMP implementation understanding.
  • Support drafting of the ESMP.
  • Support preparation of the Grievance Redress Mechanism.
  • Plan and organize field visits.
  • Plan and facilitate workshops.
  • Prepare workshop reports.
Required Experience

At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience in marine and/or inland fisheries in Indonesia.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Fisheries, Marine Science, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Management, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Forestry, or equivalent degree in a relevant field.

Languages Required
Working knowledge (Level C) of English and Bahasa Indonesia.
Languages Preferred
Experience working in the targeted project landscapes is an asset; Experience in supporting GEF, FAO, or other internationally funded environmental projects is desirable.
Contract Duration
8 months (40 working days on when actually employed basis)
