Overview
The World Bank Group seeks a Senior Energy Specialist to support the design and implementation of energy sector operations and analytical tasks in the South Asia Region, with a focus on the gas sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Remain up to date with relevant developments globally and in the South Asia Region regarding the energy sector, with a focus on natural gas.
- Participate in dialogue with private sector representatives to understand business investment climate and identify PPP collaboration areas.
- Contribute to policy dialogue on energy issues and interactions with clients and partners.
- Lead/co-lead analytical and strategic work pertaining to the energy sector in SAR.
- Lead/co-lead preparation, appraisal, negotiations, and supervision of energy projects.
- Coordinate and follow up with government counterparts and consultants, providing research and analytical support.
- Draft and provide contributions to project documents, implementation, and completion reports.
- Support the preparation, completion, and follow-up of official missions.
Required Experience
- At least 8 years of combined experience in international institutions and/or companies, government agencies, and/or power sector utilities with demonstrated track record of successful engagement with complex projects.
- Familiarity with key aspects of design, development, implementation, and operations of energy and/or gas projects is required.
- Experience of arranging financing (blending of public and private sources) of large infrastructure/ gas projects is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated solid understanding of energy policies, technologies or strategies, private sector participation, and institutional development.
- Experience in supporting key roles in policy dialogue with clients and stakeholders.
- Experience working with large global teams, with an ability to produce high-quality results and outputs with minimal supervision required.
Qualifications
PhD or Master's degree in energy engineering/planning/finance/economics or equivalent areas relevant for energy sector development.
