Overview

The role involves contributing to the production of Purchasing Power Parities (PPPs) and related indicators, conducting economic research, and drafting analytical materials. The position aims to support the work programme on PPPs and other topics within the Trade and Productivity Statistics Division.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the production (i.e. calculation, survey management and validation, data checks, etc.) of PPPs and related indicators, such as comparative price levels, for countries under the responsibility of the OECD in the joint Eurostat-OECD programme and all the associated documentation, briefing materials etc.
  • Contribute to blog posts or short papers to disseminate and promote the OECD’s work on PPPs.
  • Contribute to the analytical and research activities of the Division and to the production of working papers and publications related to measurement issues.
  • Keep abreast of research on PPPs and relevant methodological developments.
  • Assist with the maintenance of core databases, as needed.
  • Support the continuous improvement and modernisation of PPP update processes and data infrastructure, including through the expansion and maintenance of related documentation.
  • Develop good working relationships with colleagues across the OECD and other relevant OECD directorates to ensure co-ordination on work associated with the work programme on PPP statistics and other statistics covered by the Division.
  • Establish contacts with data producers in national statistical offices, national administrations and other international organisations, and with academics in the wider research community working on related topics.
  • Participate in expert meetings and workshops related to productivity measurement and analysis, and prepare and present research papers to a wide array of audiences.
  • Provide overall support to the Head of the Section and undertake other tasks as required.
Required Experience

At least two years of professional experience working with economic statistics; experience working with price statistics and PPPs would be a distinct advantage. Experience in the production, maintenance and quality assurance of statistical indicators. Previous experience in research and analytical activities; experience in quantitative analysis, including a solid understanding of macroeconomic concepts, would be an advantage. Excellent skills in handling large datasets would be an advantage. Good drafting skills would be an advantage. Experience in preparing research papers within academia or an international organisation would be an asset.

Qualifications

An advanced university degree or equivalent qualification in statistics, economics or econometrics, with a strong foundation in quantitative analysis and statistics.

Languages Required
Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) and knowledge of the other, with a commitment to reach a good working level.
Languages Preferred
Fluency in Spanish would be an advantage.

Open-ended appointment, with no foreseen end date.

Remuneration
Monthly salary starts at 5 279.34 EUR, plus allowances based on eligibility, exempt of French income tax.
