Overview
The Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator will support the development and implementation of M&E systems, including data collection, analysis, and reporting, to inform program development and organizational learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and contribute to the development and implementation of M&E systems, including M&E SOPs, guidance and tools.
- Participate in program design and proposal discussions.
- Support program staff in planning for and executing M&E.
- Support the implementation, dissemination and use of evaluations, assessments and monitoring data.
- Contribute to organizational learning.
- Capacity building and training of program and M&E staff.
- Supervise and mentor M&E staff.
- Contribute to the design of M&E staffing structure and resourcing.
- Maintain and strengthen the overall M&E system.
- Provide technical support to program teams in the development of core M&E tools.
- Support Program staff in the identification, planning and execution of M&E activities.
- Compile periodic quantitative output reports and ensure timely and accurate monthly reporting into GORS.
- Lead the preparation of high-quality analytical reports for donors and internal NRC use.
- Produce monthly M&E reports highlighting trends, gaps, and performance.
- Facilitate structured capacity-building initiatives and technical trainings for Programe and M&E staff.
- Provide technical and surge support to field teams.
- Train field staff on technology-enabled data collection methods.
- Deliver ongoing technical assistance and work in close collaboration with NRC’s partner organizations.
- Provide technical and surge support for both quantitative and qualitative analyses.
- Lead periodic grant reviews.
- Monitor indicators and track target achievement across projects.
- Contribute to project and program planning processes.
- Support the identification of opportunities for cash-based interventions and market-based programming.
- Ensure that all activities comply with NRC’s Safe and Inclusive Programming (SIP) guidelines and policies.
Required Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in an international NGO preferably in an emergency or post-conflict setting, including M&E capacity and systems development. Thorough experience with and knowledge of principles and current approaches to monitoring and evaluation in relief and development programs, using both quantitative and qualitative methods. Understanding of data and information needs for program management and decision making. Experience in facilitating the capacity building efforts of diverse colleagues, including local partner agencies. Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge to diverse audiences through training, mentoring and other formal and non-formal methods. Experience using SPSS, STATA, Epi Info, or R. Demonstrated and indepth knowledge of Uganda’s humanitarian context with particular expertise in the refugee response across Westnile, Kampala and Southwest Uganda. Proven ability to work in a highly dynamic and fast paced environment, demonstrating resilience and adaptability. Knowledge of the NGO operations and the dynamics of the humanitarian sector is a plus. Proven presentation, training, and facilitation skills.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline including Statistics, Social Sciences, A Post Graduate Diploma in M&E is added advantage
