Overview

The Witness Engagement Consultant will support ODIHR deployments by identifying and engaging witnesses of alleged IHL and IHRL violations for interviews within the Ukraine Monitoring Initiative.


Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with the Team Leader and UMI team to determine interviewee profiles.
  • Liaise with relevant actors on the ground to identify suitable interviewees.
  • Contact and vet potential interviewees.
  • Collect, organize, and present information about potential interviewees.
  • Assist with arranging interviewees’ travel and accommodation.
  • Assist interviewees with transferring relevant media.
  • Be present at the interview venue for the duration of interviews.
  • Organise and conduct meetings with representatives of non-governmental organisations, authorities, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Advise the Team Leader and monitoring team on interviewee profiles for future deployments.
  • Participate in briefings prior to and upon completion of deployments.
Required Experience

A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience (previous experience in civil society or in the human rights sector will be considered an asset).

Qualifications

A minimum first level university degree in law, history, social sciences, international relations, or other related field.

Fluency in English, Ukrainian, and Russian, both oral and written.

Remuneration
Remuneration will be based on the selected consultant's/expert's qualifications, experience, the tasks and deliverables for this position and in accordance with the OSCE established rates.
