Overview

This internship opportunity is with the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) Policy, Knowledge Management and Coordination Branch (PKMCB) in New York. The intern will support the Knowledge Management Unit.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in drafting and preparing background documents, reports, issue briefs, talking points, articles, presentations, slide decks, knowledge products, etc.
  • Attend and summarize conferences and meetings.
  • Gather, select and analyse information contained in communications and publications received from different sources, including the press.
  • Assist in data collection, conduct research and provide analysis on relevant topics.
  • Keep abreast of latest trends and developments in the area of assignment.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining databases.
  • Support the review of key reports and publications.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Required Experience

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PH.D. Programme. A field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Remuneration
The internship is UNPAID. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
