Overview

Provide senior leadership and oversight for a regional grants and partnerships portfolio, ensuring compliance and quality across the grants lifecycle and managing a team.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage grant application processes.
  • Lead due diligence and vetting of partner organisations.
  • Prepare and administer grant agreements.
  • Design and oversee capacity-building support to partners on grants management.
  • Line manage, mentor, and build the capacity of Partnerships & Grants Officer(s).
  • Oversee the development and roll-out of the project’s Grant management System.
  • Coordinate with Operations Manager on operational processes.
  • Ensure partners comply with grant conditions and donor requirements.
  • Update and maintain the risk register and dashboard.
  • Track funding disbursements against budgets.
  • Monitor grant implementation and ensure timely reporting.
  • Oversee the design of capacity building strategies for partner organisations.
  • Support design of training/guidance on grant report writing and compliance.
  • Ensure all grant-related documents are appropriately uploaded and stored.
  • Ensure proper information management of grants records.
  • Oversee coordination of review meetings with partners.
  • Support Project Director in liaising with donor representatives.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders.
  • Represent the team in coordination with other local actors.
  • Perform other tasks as required by the Project Director.
Required Experience

Minimum of 6 years of experience in partnerships & grants within the NGO/INGO or donor sectors, including at least 3 years in a management position. Proven expertise working with institutional donors (e.g., FCDO, EU, ECHO, SIDA, NORAD). Experience working in or on the East Africa Great Lakes Region, including Horn of Africa. Proven commitment to locally led approaches and experience working with or supporting local and grassroots organizations. Experience working with Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems. Familiarity with Power Apps or internal grants systems development. Previous experience in partnership management or capacity building. Experience working with Group Cash Transfer mechanisms or cash-based programming.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in International Development, Business Administration, Political Science, or a related field. Certifications in grants or partnership management.
