Overview
The Regional Specialist, Insurance and Risk Finance will contribute to the implementation of UNDP’s Regional Programme for LAC and the LAC Facility for Financing Resilient Human Development. The role focuses on delivering the Insurance and Risk Finance Facility strategy areas across various resilience domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide policy support and strategic advice for regional implementation of insurance and risk finance work.
- Support country offices in delivering Insurance and Risk Financing Programmes and provide direct technical advice.
- Identify and develop new opportunities for UNDP across the region and support resource mobilization.
- Lead regional knowledge management, advocacy, research, and evidence activities.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 5 years (with a master's degree) or 7 years (with a bachelor's degree) of progressively responsible experience in insurance, risk finance, disaster risk financing, or financial sector development in the public sector, private sector, academia, or non-governmental organizations is required.
- Demonstrable experience working in insurance and risk financing in Latin America, with exposure to initiatives linking insurance to agriculture, nature, gender, social protection, SME development.
- Experience in managing projects across issues of insurance and risk financing.
Qualifications
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent), in Economics, Finance, Actuarial Science, Development Studies, Public Policy or other closely related area is required OR A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience.
