Overview

The Climate Change and Environment Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing environmental sustainability and climate resilience initiatives. This role integrates climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies into organizational programs, operations, and policies.


Tasks Summary
  • Design and implement projects on climate resilience, sustainable land use, disaster risk reduction, and ecosystem conservation
  • Integrate climate-smart and environmentally responsible practices across all programs
  • Prepare climate vulnerability and environmental risk assessment reports
  • Provide expert technical input on climate change mitigation/adaptation, NRM, and environmental protection
  • Develop technical documents and internal/external guidelines on climate and environment
  • Develop key indicators for tracking climate/environment initiatives
  • Submit technical reports, donor reports, case studies, and success stories
  • Conduct training and workshops for staff, partners, and communities
  • Raise internal awareness on climate and environment issues
  • Identify funding opportunities and submit funding proposals
  • Develop an Annual Climate and Environment Action Plan
  • Develop Green Operations Guidelines or SOPs for internal environmental footprint reduction
  • Provide technical input to the Technical & Coordination Unit Manager and staff

Experience Requirements
  • Experience in coordinating and implementing environmental sustainability and climate resilience initiatives
  • Experience in integrating climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies into organizational programs, operations, and policies
  • Experience in ensuring compliance with environmental safeguards
  • Experience in contributing to national and international climate commitments
  • Experience in working collaboratively with internal teams, external stakeholders, communities, and relevant government and non-government agencies
  • Experience in supporting the implementation of climate change policies
  • Experience in driving the delivery of climate adaptation, mitigation, environmental protection programs, and policy advocacy efforts

Remuneration: According to DACAAR Expatriate Salary Scale
