Maison d'Accueil du PAys de Redon IEM La Clarté Volunteer opportunity: urgent ! No One Left Behind! Empowering Children with Disabilities at school
Support physical handicapped children at school and extra-school. The group is composed of teenagers btw 10 and 14 y.old. The mission will propose to bring some help to the children during classes, workshops like informatics, theatre, music, arts, mathematics… but also to the individual help for homework, help to write, support them in getting included in some “conventional classes” in the schools of the town. The volunteers can also value their own countries and cultures, through the organisation of meals, exhibitions, slide-shows about their countries. They can also create a workshop with the children around some personal skills they wants to share with them (initiation to foreign languages, puppets creation, European games, …). The volunteers will participate to the organisation of a collective project about Europe, together with the other European volunteers hosted in Redon, with a partnership between all the host organisations of the town. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements The volunteers will share a furnished flat with 3 other European volunteers or French youngsters. They will be part of a group of 10 European volunteers. They will be able to walk to the Clarté or to use a bicycle, as there are no efficient public transport in the town. the volunteer will receive 7 € / day for pocket money and 5 € / day for food. They will be refunded be refunfunded for travel costs app. 309 € (according to EU rates). A bank account will be open for the volunteers when they arrive with the coordinating organization in order to receive the payments. Training during the activity The volunteers will have the support of the staff of la Clarté and of their mentor into the organization. All of them will support them to discover the organization, the specificity of children with disabilities and to build their projects into the organization. The volunteers will have the support of the European Volunteers coordinator in Mapar (the coordinating organization), who will support them during all their stay. The volunteers will also follow 2 hours of French classes/week during all the duration of the project. Participant profile The volunteer should be available on the dates of the project (from September to the beginning of July) The volunteer should be interested in discovering the environment of children with disability, pedagogy, and the school system. We will expect from the volunteer to be enthusiastic, curious, willing to learn, to take and share initiative, to show responsability with children and teenagers with less opportunities. A2-B1 French to quickly communicate with a multi-professional team and families will be highly appreciated.
