AWO Service- und Begegnungszentrum Untertürkheim is a warm and lively community center that brings older adults together and promotes social inclusion. As an ESC volunteer, you will support a variety of social and creative activities that help seniors stay connected, active and involved in their neighbourhood. Your tasks include assisting with social afternoons, creative workshops, games, small events, and the daily lunch table, as well as welcoming visitors and contributing to an open, friendly atmosphere. The focus is on community-building and meaningful interaction.. There are no nursing tasks or medical services involved at any time. You will become part of a dedicated team that values solidarity, dialogue and participation. This volunteering offers hands-on experience in community and social work with older adults, opportunities to develop interpersonal and intercultural skills, and the chance to make a real difference in people’s daily lives. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements You will live in a shared apartment very close to the Begegnungszentrum with other young adults who are new to Germany. The accommodation is well connected to public transport, with tram, bus and S-Bahn stations nearby, allowing quick access to Stuttgart’s city centre in about 15 Minutes. You will receive a “Deutschlandticket” for unlimited public transport across Germany. In addition, you will receive monthly pocket money and a food allowance according to ESC guidelines. Training during the activity During your volunteering, you will attend two trainings organized by the German National Agency (on-arrival and mid-term training). You will also attend a German language class depending on your level. You will be part of an experienced team and a supervisor and a mentor will be available to guide you and answer your questions. You will have the opportunity to meet other volunteers, in exciting Networking-Events organized by your coordinating oragnisation, Jugendwerk der AWO (Check out our events on Insta: @jw24_volunteers). Participant profile You are our perfect volunteer if you enjoy working with people, bringing different generations together, supporting them in their daily lives; have a driver’s license and have a basic understanding of German (A1 required).
