Overview

Consultant will mobilize key urban stakeholders in Eastern Europe, Caucasus, and Central Asia for WUF13 and beyond, supporting UN-Habitat's efforts in collaboration with UN Resident Coordinator Offices.

Tasks Summary

• Provide technical support for National and Regional Urban Fora, ensuring alignment with WUF13 objectives and the New Urban Agenda.
• Map and engage key institutions and organizations for WUF13 sessions.
• Organize national and regional events, seminars, and awareness sessions.
• Host monthly virtual information sessions on WUF13.
• Liaise with country focal points on WUF13 preparations.
• Prepare invitations, handouts, and flyers.
• Follow up with presenters on compiling presentations and facilitate translation.
• Assist in setting up bilateral meetings and prepare schedules.
• Coordinate logistics for event participants, including visa requirements and accommodation.
• Liaise with the WUF13 team for regional set-up and coordinate exhibition booths.
• Assist in the set-up of country exhibition spaces and venues during WUF13.
• Represent focal point to country delegations on logistic matters.
• Coordinate daily schedules and maintain contact with country focal points and HQ administration.
• Distribute flyers and promotional material.
• Coordinate and interact with country delegations, encouraging gender balance.
• Facilitate bilateral meetings and assist delegations in resolving problems.
• Collect business card contacts.
• Prepare and maintain lists of participation and gather business cards for partnership database.
• Participate in WUF13 sessions and report on outcomes.
• Write/compile minutes of events.
• Coordinate media coverage and provide daily summary reports.
• Perform additional ad hoc assignments as requested.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project management in urbanization, strategic planning, housing.
• At least one year of progressive experience in field related to the consultancy assignment.
• Establishment of working relationships with various humanitarian and development partners.
• Capacity to work in a complex institutional environment involving government, international agencies, private sector and civil society organizations.
• Strong interest in issues concerning urban development is an advantage.
• Understanding of urban development paradigms and socio-political situation in Eastern Europe, Caucasus, and Central Asia.
• International experience is an asset, especially within the United Nations System.

Qualification Requirements

• Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Architecture, Urban Planning, Development Studies, Public Administration, or similar discipline relevant to sustainable urbanization and international development or a related field is required.
• A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required. Knowledge of Russian is essential.
