Overview

Provides technical and project management support for ecosystem-based adaptation initiatives, focusing on forests and wetlands. Supports developing countries in adaptation planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.


Tasks Summary
  • Provides technical and project management support for ecosystem-based adaptation, including sustainable management, restoration, and conservation of forests and wetlands, integrated fire management, and related socio-economic aspects.
  • Contributes technical advice and liaises with global partner organizations and networks.
  • Assists developing countries with science-based information for EbA monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting.
  • Supports programme and pipeline development, management, and reporting related to forests, wetlands, and EbA.
  • Contributes to internal and external communications and knowledge product development.
  • Organizes meetings, workshops, conferences, and events.
  • Coordinates diverse stakeholder groups for timely project delivery.

Experience Requirements
  • At least 1 year of relevant work experience for category C, 5 years for category B, or 10 years for category A in international development linked with climate change action, forests, wetlands, fire management or other land uses.
  • Relevant experience in project design, management and/or implementation.

Qualification Requirements
  • Advanced university degree in climate change, forests, rural livelihoods, natural resources management, wetlands, land use, water, soils, law, international development or a related field.
  • Consultants with a bachelor's degree need two additional years of relevant professional experience.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Working knowledge (proficient – level C) of English.

Languages Preferred: • Limited knowledge (intermediate – level B) of another official FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) would be an asset.

Contract Duration: Assignments up to 11 months
