Overview

Provides direct substantive support on development issues to intergovernmental bodies and develops and maintains relations with senior officials of member governments.


Tasks Summary
  • Provides strategic advice and technical guidance to intergovernmental bodies
  • Manages work unit's contribution to meetings of intergovernmental bodies
  • Represents the organizational unit at international, regional and national meetings
  • Develops and maintains relations with senior officials of member governments
  • Develops and maintains strategic partnerships with multilateral institutions, academia, civil society, and the private sector
  • Negotiates with donor and recipient governments on technical assistance programmes and projects
  • Organizes and coordinates cooperation among Member States
  • Promotes and coordinates international cooperation initiatives, including resource mobilization
  • Leads or participates in technical cooperation missions
  • Contributes to the formulation of the medium-term plan, programme of work and budget
  • Attends to administrative matters concerning the organizational unit
  • Leads team members efforts to collect and analyze data

Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in economic research and analysis, policy formulation, application of economic principles in development programmes or related area
  • Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in at least one of the following areas: international cooperation, sustainable development, or public policy
  • Minimum of seven years of demonstrated experience in resource mobilization and managing cooperation portfolios with bilateral and multilateral donors
  • Experience in coordinating or leading international conferences, policy forums, or inter-agency processes is desirable
  • Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable

Qualification Requirements
  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in economics, development studies or related field
  • A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
  • Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable
