Overview

Responsible for economic and sector analysis, intergovernmental support, and technical cooperation related to responsible investment for sustainable development, with a focus on stock exchanges.


Tasks Summary
  • Develops socio-economic databases and qualitative information for responsible investment analysis.
  • Interprets and applies econometric models to analyze trends and policy effects.
  • Drafts inputs for technical papers and analytical studies on sustainable finance.
  • Identifies and analyzes policy proposals related to responsible investment.
  • Attends meetings to collect information and discuss with colleagues.
  • Assists in organizing expert group meetings, seminars, etc.
  • Prepares speeches and inputs for senior staff presentations.
  • Prepares inputs for reports to intergovernmental bodies.
  • Assists in organizing panels and round tables for intergovernmental processes.
  • Participates in missions on sustainable finance issues.
  • Organizes training seminars for national experts, stock exchanges, and regulators.
  • Prepares documentation for technical cooperation programmes and projects.
  • Contributes to material for approving regional, country, or sector technical cooperation projects.
  • Monitors, backstops, and assesses the implementation of technical cooperation programmes and projects.
  • Performs other related duties and administrative tasks.
  • Undertakes on-the-job and other training activities.

Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in economic research and analysis, policy formulation, and application of economic principles in development programmes or related area is required.
  • Experience working with stock exchange officials and security market regulators in the application of sustainable finance principles is desirable.
  • Experience managing UN partnership programs with large private sector networks is desirable.
  • Experience conceptualizing agendas and sessions of large public meetings, seminars, conferences, etc. both online and in-person is desirable.

Qualification Requirements
  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in economics, political economy, business administration, finance or related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Languages Preferred: French or Chinese (Mandarin) or Spanish or Arabic or Russian

Contract Duration: Initially available for one year. Extensions beyond one year are subject to availability of funding, satisfactory performance and continuing need of the functions.
