Udruga za prirodu, okoliš i održivi razvoj Sunce Split, Croatia Volunteer opportunity: Solidarity for Green Dalmatia 2025
"Solidarity for Green Dalmatia 2025" will bring together 2 long-term volunteers to Split and engage them in 4 activities connected with environment protection and sustainable development, during 11 months (329 days): 1. Organising and implementing educational activities on the topic of nature conservation, environmental protection and sustainable development to bring positive changes to the community; 2. Encouraging active involvement through development of communication materials, their dissemination and work on social networks; 3. Uniting the local community through organisation of public green events (exhibitions, public celebrations, bicycle tours etc.); 4. Further greening Sunce’s project and programme activities based on research of the best available environmental practices and the promotion of results. The aim is to change and increase the level of environmentally responsible behaviour and encourage target groups for active participation in environmental protection. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements Accommodation is provided in the flat in Split, together with other 1 volunteer. Flat is equipped with the kitchen, bathroom, 2 bedrooms and balcony. Two volunteers will be in big shared bedroom and one volunteer will be in solo bedroom. Sunce already has signed agreement with the flat owner and Sunce is fully covering all expenses. The flat is close to the city centre and Association Sunce's office - a 20-minute walk. Participants will receive 450 EUR monthly pocket, food and local transportation money. Training during the activity Shortly after arrival, volunteers are required to participate in the on-arrival training organized by the National Agency. The goal of the training is to provide a detailed introduction to the program, the rights and responsibilities of the volunteers and the host organization, as well as expectations and monitoring of competency development. In the middle of the volunteering period, there is the mid-term training, where volunteers exchange experiences and can discuss potential issues, as well as prepare for their departure. In the meantime, volunteers can join Sunce trainings if interested. Participant profile Participants are not expected to have prior knowledge or experience in the field of nature and environmental protection or volunteering, although it can be considered a bonus. What is much more important and essential is that the person is eager to learn about it, adopt and practice sustainable habits in their daily life. Additionally, the following qualities are desirable: - willingness to work flexible hours, - a love for dynamic work, - ability to work as part of a team, - strong organizational, logistical, and operational skills - willingness to cohabit in an apartment - honesty - good communication skills
