Overview

Support the delivery of activities related to the Special Programme on Institutional Strengthening from funding application stage to project closure. This includes negotiation of project agreements, finalisation of project documents, and oversight of ongoing projects.

Tasks Summary

• Undertake qualitative analysis and technical review of project applications
• Develop and ensure signature of legal instruments with successful applicants
• Oversee project implementation through to completion and closure
• Identify and provide solutions for project problems/issues
• Provide substantive support to Executive Board and other relevant meetings
• Undertake outreach activities, including development of training workshops and seminars
• Collect and analyze data to identify trends and provide insights
• Assist in monitoring and evaluation of funds
• Perform other duties as required

Experience Requirements

• A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in sustainable development
• A minimum of two years of experience at the international level related to sound management of chemicals and waste
• Programme and project development and management experience
• Experience in providing policy advice on chemicals and waste management
• Experience in the organization of inter-governmental and multi-stakeholder processes and meetings is an advantage

Qualification Requirements

• Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in environmental sciences, environmental management, economics or a related field
• A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted
• Certified project management qualification is desirable

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in written and spoken English and either French or Spanish

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of other United Nations languages

Contract Duration: 12 months
