ADRA OPS EKUMENSKA HUMANITARNA ORGANIZACIJA Volunteer opportunity: Senior Club and Art Corner Assistant in Novi Sad (6–12 months)
As a Senior Club and Art Corner Assistant, you will empower elderly and socially vulnerable individuals through creative, cultural, and social inclusion activities. You will help to reduce social isolation and strengthen community ties by facilitating art, music, storytelling, and intergenerational exchange activities. Your daily tasks include assisting in organizing workshops in handicrafts, painting, and traditional art forms, supporting group discussions and social gatherings, while promoting creativity and mutual respect. You will collaborate with social workers, psychologists, and volunteers to ensure that participants feel included, valued, and supported. Volunteers will also assist in the development of the EHO Art Corner (https://ehons.org/en/eho-art), a creative space where artistic and handicraft products made by seniors will be stored and exhibited. They will organize the display of handmade items,assist in maintaining the space, and help design small promotional materials. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements Volunteers will be accommodated in a fully furnished shared apartment in Novi Sad, each with a private bedroom. The apartment includes a shared kitchen, living area, and bathroom. Volunteers will receive a monthly allowance of 470 EUR to cover meals, communication, and local transport. Transportation to project sites will mostly be by public transport. EHO vehicles are available when needed to facilitate access to the Senior Club or partner organizations. The working environment is inclusive, safe, and supportive, offering volunteers full logistical and emotional support throughout their stay. Training during the activity The volunteers will receive tailored orientation and training focused on: -Understanding the social, psychological, and emotional needs of elderly and vulnerable adults. -Learning creative facilitation methods suitable for older participants (art therapy, storytelling, memory workshops). -Developing intercultural communication, empathy, and teamwork in multi-age and multi-ethnic settings. -Learning about active aging, inclusion strategies, and EHO’s holistic community-based approach. -Acquiring basic skills in project planning, event organization, and impact monitoring. Participant profile Ideal candidates are motivated, empathetic, and community-oriented individual who believe aging should not mean social exclusion. They are creative, adaptable, and able to engage older adults in cultural or artistic activities that foster connection and well-being. Experience in arts, social work, education, or psychology is an advantage but not required. Essential qualities include patience, active listening, and respect for diversity. Volunteers should enjoy teamwork, be open to intercultural experiences, and are willing to learn from older generations. Those interested in intergenerational exchange, or creative social inclusion will find this experience especially rewarding.
