ADRA OPS EKUMENSKA HUMANITARNA ORGANIZACIJA Volunteer opportunity: Sport Assistant - Support to children involved in life and/or Work on the Streets (6-12 months)
EHO provides daily care, education, and psychosocial support to children who face poverty, neglect, or risk of exploitation. As a Sport Assistant, you will support activities that use sport and play as tools for social inclusion, emotional development, and empowerment. You will organize games, sports sessions, and physical education activities that help children improve their self-confidence, teamwork, and well-being. By creating a safe, playful, and structured environment, you will encourage children to build positive habits, cooperation, and trust — skills essential for their healthy development and reintegration into school and society. Volunteers will work closely with EHO’s educators, social workers, and supporting daily routines at the Day Center and participating in outreach activities in public spaces. The Sport Assistant will also help design small sports competitions, inclusion games, and awareness activities promoting children’s rights and fair play. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements Volunteers will be accommodated in a shared apartment in Novi Sad, with private bedrooms and shared common areas (kitchen, living room, and bathroom). The apartment will be fully furnished and equipped. Each volunteer will receive a monthly allowance of 470 EUR to cover meals, communication, and local transport. Transportation to the EHO and other project locations will be arranged via public transport, with EHO cars available when needed. Volunteers will be provided with full logistical and emotional support to ensure a safe and inclusive working environment. Training during the activity Before and during the activity, volunteers will receive training focused on: - Understanding the realities and challenges faced by street-involved children. - Learning about child protection principles and EHO’s methodology of field work and community engagement. - Enhancing communication and teamwork in multicultural environments. This training will prepare volunteers to lead sport-based educational and psychosocial activities safely, creatively, and effectively. Participant profile Ideal candidates are active, empathetic, and open-minded individuals who enjoy working with children and believe in the transformative power of sport. They should be motivated to contribute to social inclusion and be ready to adapt to dynamic and sometimes emotionally demanding environments.
