Overview

Manages and leads a section within the Department of Technical Cooperation, ensuring strategic and results-oriented programmatic responses to Member States' priorities in applying nuclear technologies for development goals.


Tasks Summary
  • Lead the development of Country Programme Frameworks and programmes/projects.
  • Conduct policy dialogue to meet Member State priorities and needs.
  • Ensure integration of innovative policies, quality management, and results-based approaches.
  • Coordinate programme/project monitoring and assessments, integrating lessons learned.
  • Assess progress and report on project results, adapting monitoring tools.
  • Act as TC focal point for cross-departmental issues.
  • Lead and coordinate project implementation, promoting capacity development.
  • Ensure targeted delivery levels are met.
  • Develop and participate in resource mobilization activities.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Plan and manage the work of the Section, including work plans and staff development.

Experience Requirements
  • At least 10 years of experience in the development and management of TC programmes, preferably in developing countries and in technology fields.
  • Experience in related nuclear field is an asset.
  • Proven experience in managing large teams and projects, including building, leading, and developing cohesive teams, determining clear goals, roles, and responsibilities, providing feedback on performance, and encouraging staff development.

Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in management, social sciences, science and technology, or international relations plus two years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of an Advanced university degree.
  • Master's Degree in management, social sciences, science and technology, or international relations.
  • Additional background in development studies is an advantage.
Other Details

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.

Contract Duration: 36 months

Remuneration: Tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $101540 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance). Variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $ 55339*. Dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses. Other benefits include 6 weeks' annual leave, home leave travel, pension plan and health insurance.
